Weekly Review 01.23.17

Outside My Window… I can see the hotel swimming pool, since I am sitting in the breakfast area.  It’s a lovely pool, but it’s been far too cold and rainy to be able to sit out there.  This week is supposed to be warmer, so maybe….

I am thinking… that I would have enjoyed my two-week stay here if not for a series of events that have caused aggravation and frustration.  We had to move to another room on Wednesday when we woke up to a leaking ceiling.  The refrigerator in the old room and then the one in the new room froze my greens two different times.  And the new room has no wifi or hardwired Internet – I had the pleasure of troubleshooting over the phone with the hotel’s IT company and helped them diagnose 2 separate issues – both of which I have been assured will be fixed today (Monday).  We shall see.  I could request moving to another room, and may do so if the Internet issues are not fixed. That said, the jacuzzi has been very nice.

I am thankful for…  the promise of sunshine this week!  I want to be able to get outside, do some walking, maybe a little sightseeing.  With all the rain and flooding last week, I’m feeling a bit housebound, or rather, hotelbound.

From the kitchen… I’m hearing the restocking of the hotel kitchen, vacuuming of hallways, hums of refrigerators and coolers, and the tick, tick, tick of the wall clock here in the breakfast area.

I am hoping… that I can be productive this week (working on blogs) and also take a day to visit the Houston Museum of Fine Art.

I am reading… The Immortal Irishman, by Timothy Egan (for the 2017 European Reading Challenge) – but this was left home, so I won’t be reading it for the next week.  The Girl Who Played With Fire by Stieg Larrson, which is the second of a trilogy.

I am busy creating… a counted cross stitch Santa piece.  I  brought it with me, but haven’t worked on it at all as the lighting in the hotel room isn’t bright enough.

I am hearing… Scottish music from the Irish and Celtic Music Podcast.

Around the house & garden… Christmas décor is still up. David is in charge of the house while we’re gone.

In other news…  Bill still has a lingering cough, but otherwise is well.  He was sicker than I’ve seen him in several years and I’m very glad I didn’t get it.

One of my favorite things… Celtic music.  I am really enjoying the bluetooth device Bill bought me for Christmas, and using it frequently for listening to music podcasts while I work.

Our Weekly Overview…

Monday: Bill working with the Houston client.  I’m hanging out at the hotel – I’m going to run to Whole Foods for lunch and maybe buy lunch supplies.  That hasn’t worked out well and I’m not sure I want to chance it again, especially if I decide to move to another room.  David is working today.

Tuesday: Bill works with the Houston client.  I’ll hang out at the hotel, hopefully get in a walk, write a book review, and begin to work on blogs.  David is off work.

Wednesday: Bill works with the Houston client.  I think I’ll try to visit the art museum on Wednesday, as it’s supposed to be colder, but sunny.  David is off work.

Thursday: Bill works with the Houston client.  I’ll hang out at the hotel, walk, and continue working on blogs.  David has work today.

Friday: Bill works with the Houston client.  I’m not sure yet if we’re leaving Friday night or Saturday.  If Friday, then I’ll have to pack up the room in the morning and find somewhere to hang out the erst of the day.  If Saturday, then I’ll keep busy doing other things.  David has work.

SaturdaySunday:  David works.  Bill & I will be heading home (the plan is tentatively to head for home on Saturday, unless Bill finishes up with the client early).  Once home, I’ll have laundry to do, groceries to get, unpacking to do, and I know Copper will need a good bit of attention.

Here are some picture thoughts I am sharing … no picture thoughts this week.  Sorry.
