A year ago, she asked me if I could repair it, as a three-year-old with scissors had wreaked havoc upon it.
This is just one section where the scissors cut into the tied end, thus allowing rows to begin to unravel. Luckily Kat discovered the damage before it became too extreme.
After much deliberation and trial and error with test swatches to figure out the pattern (which I seem to no longer have), I was able to repair it this past weekend.
Itβs not perfect, and I was unable to find the variegated yarn used in some of the rows, but it is serviceable. And that is important, as it is a very warm afghan, winter is fast on its way, and Kat has been asking if her favorite afghan is ready to ship back to her!
The answer is, βWhy, yes it is!β
what a clever Mom you are π Hope the no longer 3 year old has learned not to use scissors on such precious things.
I doubt the three-year-old learned his lesson, but at least Kat is no longer residing where he lives, or vice versa!
Beautiful afghan! So glad you were able to repair it. π
Thank you, Soose. I made two afghans for Kat with those colors (her choices) and she still uses both daily. One of these days I’ll have to make some replacements, but not today!
I do still have the afghan I made with that pattern.I always thought it was extra warm because of the layering.
I like Kat’s choice of colors. Glad you were able to repair it.
