3 Quick Thoughts on Saturday, July 29, 2017

  • The pool robot is working out very nicely. I was able to put it in the pool earlier this week and by the time I was done mowing and trimming the side yard and watering all my plants, the pool was clean.  I took advantage of the clean pool and went swimming!  I needed to cool off – we’ve had temperatures in the high 90s all week, along with heat indexes of 104 – 109.
  • I’m sad to report that the SlingTV is not working out as well as I had hoped. It does fine on most shows, but anything that is live, such as a news show or, most importantly, the race, it pixilates a lot, which causes headaches.  Not good.  It is uncertain if it will improve by upping our internet speed, and that’s something that Bill needs to handle, as he has some concerns about what they need to send a technician out to do here at the house. Until he gets those answers (and has the time to pursue the whole issue), I think we’re going to be stuck with continuing to use DirecTv.
  • I’m not sure if I’m brave or foolhardy, but I started reading a Diana Gabaldon book yesterday, Seven Stones To Stand Or Fall. I am two books behind in reading her Outlander series and all of the short stories and novellas included in this collection are about the Outlander world in some fashion.  I’ve put off reading anything by her for several years because I knew once I began, I would not want to stop.  I’ll end up reading the whole Outlander series from start to finish.  The last time I did that was in 2007 and it took me a full year – and there’s two more full length novels added since then!  Wish me luck!
