Texas!

I ended my last post with these words:

I haven’t begun packing …. Yet!

That was exactly 1.5 years ago. I did begin packing, though. Maybe not that exact day, but shortly thereafter, yeah, packing happened. Bill had been looking for a new job and finally received an offer early August, in Dallas, of all places! Bill had always wanted to live in Texas, and the job market there looked healthy, healthy enough that maybe if this job didn’t pan out long-term, there would be other jobs to be had without packing up and moving again. So, that’s what we did. Packed up and moved, again.

Here it is a year and a half later and we just celebrated the first year anniversary of the closing on our house (10/10/2014). It’s a big house, much larger than we ever anticipated buying, but it had all the items that we really wanted (pool, yard for gardening, big masterbath tub, large kitchen, guest rooms) and was affordable, so what could we do?

Our money pit - oops! I meant swimming pool!

You know what else we should have done that day of the house closing? Bought stock in Lowe’s! It seems like that is our favorite store now – so many house projects!

Life is very different now than it was in Arizona, and for the most part, that is a good thing! And do you know what the very best thing of all about life in Texas is? Well, other than the fact that we’ve had lots of family visiting us, seen the granddaughters several times this past year, and been able to travel to visit family in NY and AL this past year. The very best thing of all is the fact that I have not seen a single Arizona Bark Scorpion since we left Arizona! Whoooeeeee!
