Almost Ready!

I have almost everything crossed off my Thanksgiving prep list that I made yesterday morning. The house is as clean as it ever gets, as evidenced from my dust-induced sinus headache today. The only thing left is to sweep the front stoop and mop the kitchen floor, and said floor mopping will be done after David makes his pie.

The butternut squash is cooking in the crockpot. The vegan dinner rolls are rising and will soon be ready to bake. Still to be done is the Whole Grain Stuffing with Caramelized Onions and Pecans, which is an as-yet untried recipe. I sure hope it turns out good. I will make the stuffing up today, but put it in the refrigerator and bake it tomorrow morning when I bake the Green Bean Casserole.

So, there’s a little bit more to finish up and then I can put my feet up and rest. Other than making supper … oyster stew for the guys and some sort of vegan must-go chili concoction so I can empty the frig out of little bits and dabs of this and that and make room for Thanksgiving food!

Last night Bill and I made a last trip to Wal-mart and, amazingly enough, the place was practically deserted. I think there were more employees there than shoppers! Very odd, but a nice treat. I got my last minute items and Bill picked up an electronic cord of some sort so he could finish up a project that we’ve talked about for over a year – moving the Direct TV box and the BluRay box into the TV receiver cabinet. Out came the laptop that quit working shortly after we moved here (I could play CDs with it over the nice living room speakers) and the VCR which we haven’t used since we moved here. Now to just get those items off the office floor and into storage and that job will be complete!
