Summertime in southeastern Arizona is monsoon time. We get sudden rainstorms at any time of the day or night, although most often in late afternoon / early evening. Rain can come in slow steady drizzles which are wonderful for putting you to sleep, listening to the water dripping off the roof. Or the rain can come in violent thunderstorms, with lightning and thunder and violent winds. Rainbows are very common; last week I saw a double rainbow and noticed that the second rainbow was a mirror image of the first rainbow. Are all second rainbows mirror images and I’ve just never noticed it before? Or was this something special?
Yesterday afternoon the rain clouds were forming over the Huachuca Mountains.
And we had a very violent thunderstorm around 2:30 a.m. It was still somewhat overcast at 7, but now, mid-morning, the sky is clear and a brilliant blue, for a few hours, at least.
