Sierra Vista has a lot of German influence, I suspect from the many soldiers stationed here (or retired here) who spent time in Germany and possibly also brought back German spouses. There are several cafes and bakeries in town which I have not been able to try out, but I am a big fan of The Bread Basket.
On the left are California sweet rolls (with lemon flavoring and cream cheese, cinnamon and raisins) and on the right are a pastry filled with cherry and cream cheese. The lady at the counter did tell me what they were, but I can’t remember! I love the California sweet rolls so much that the lady at the counter begins to bag them up when she sees me walk in!
Those look yummy!
Yummy!
They look yummy!
I followed a link to you from The Dao of Doing a while back. I enjoy checking in because I used to live in Sierra Vista. In fact, my 15 year old son was born there. Anyway, this picture of the pretzel rolls nearly made me cry. We LOVED those and have never had such delicious ones anywhere else. Thanks for the glimpses into my old stomping grounds. I lived there pre-mall. We were so excited when the Target opened. I’m feeling homesick now!
I’m glad you are enjoying my posts. I’m not sure how much longer we will be living here in Sierra Vista, though, so enjoy the area (vicariously) while you can!
Yum on the cherry rolls – they sound delicious 🙂
