Wrapped in Lace Shawl

Sometime last fall Kat showed me a lacey shawl on Pinterest and mentioned something about her birthday. Hint taken. I ordered the Wrapped in Lace Shawl pattern and the yarn in December and started crocheting after New Year’s. It worked up very quickly.

Here is the finished Wrapped in Lace Shawl crocheted with Knit Picks Gloss Lace (Sterling):

Up close, before blocking.

As you can see, I decided not to add the very last row of edging. I was pretty sure that Kat would not bother with blocking the shawl whenever she washes it and the final row simply wouldn’t lay right without it.

Here’s a shot of the shawl during the blocking process:

Blocking really sets shows of the lace quality and the beading.

The recommended yarn is a mixture of Merino Wool and Silk, making the shawl super soft and lightweight, perfect for those summer nights when you need just a little bit extra to keep the evening chill off.

I am very glad that I ordered enough yarn to make several of these shawls (Knit Picks was having a sale! What can I say?!). I am two-thirds the way through a second one for Kat, worked up in Lilac, and then I will be making a couple for myself and I will still have enough yarn to make two more!

I was afraid when I signed up for Pinterest that it would be a massive time waster, and it does waste some time, but I have also found many patterns and recipes to try and most have been very successful.

  1. Those shawls are going to be gorgeous all together – you two should get a photo with them 🙂

Nope don’t use Pintrest, have enough ideas and not enough time…. Although I end up there on occasion when I do a search on something specific.

  2. Lovely! I’m glad you have more yarn to make more of these.

I pinterest sporadically. When I’m looking for something, I’ll hang out there more. I tend to most just follow friends and not go looking for new boards to follow. That being said, right now I’m spending more time there in an attempt to do something other than solitaire when I want to relax a bit.

    • That’s my Pinterest time, at night, in front of the television, instead of solitaire. Replacing one addiction with another. Pinterest feels more productive, though. 🙂
