I promised pictures of my gardening efforts, so here you go.
Two weeks ago my garden looked like this:

The initial transplantation was a bit traumatic for the pepper and tomato plants, but now they are looking much healthier. And the beans are coming up! My other gardening areas that are against the house are not getting as much sun and are much slower in sprouting, or at least I hope that is the case. I did notice a radish seedling poking through, but so far no squash or lettuce or chard. They will probably all appear while I am gone and hopefully Bill will be faithful in watering them!
My flowers are doing well also. I posted pictures of my snapdragons last week. I also have daisies along the back wall of the property
Do you like the pot? It is a wastebasket that I bought for 99 cents at the thrift store!

The geranium pot was slightly more than 99 cents!
Along the back wall is also a window box of bright yellow marigolds (large blossoms) and another window box of mixed cut flower seeds, which are beginning to poke up out of the dirt.
I have plans to grow an herb garden with some mints for tea and smoothies, but have put off obtaining any supplies until after I am back from my trip to Alabama. May is going to be family visiting time! I only wish Bill was able to go, but hopefully he’ll be able to make the next trip.
You are inspiring me to do some containers of flowers. I’m thinking about pansies. But, like you, I’ll wait until after our trip in June.
I am enjoying my containers, more than I thought I would. But then again, why wouldn’t I? They’re so pretty! I have some of them positioned so I can see them from inside the house when I’m at the kitchen sink or sitting in the living room. When I get back from my trip, I will be putting out more flowers. I want to try some “bags” that I saw that hang from walls, see if I can get flowers hanging all along the back fence!
Your containers are great because you can put them anywhere and not worry about digging up the grass. Is the idea of the plastic on top of the soil to help prevent drying out?
The red and green of the geranium pot go so well together, and I love the wastebasket!
I believe that is what they are for, Roberta. The directions said if temperatures were about 85, to put the white side up. If lower than 85, put the black side up. It is amazing how much water they are requiring now that the beans are up and the tomatoes are setting fruit!
Yes, your green thumb is alive and well. Everything looks great. I hope you have better luck than I did growing things in Green Valley. Looking forward to showing you my gardens in July. 🙂
I like the pots – especially the shape of that terracotta one with the petunias. Hope Bill is watering!
