Family Visit and Crochet Updates

A week ago today I had a lunch date with my Aunt Violet, who lives about an hour and a half from me. I drove over mid-morning, picked her up shortly before noon, and we went to Olive Garden for lunch and then to Michael’s for some yarn shopping. We had a really nice time and I wish I had thought months ago about visiting her during the week instead of trying to find time on a weekend.

Here is a picture taken last May on my aunt’s 80th birthday. That is her standing in back and seated in front are her three daughters, (from left to right) Bonnie, Carol, and Judy. My aunt looks wonderful for 80, don’t you think?!

While at Michael’s, I found a new crochet book that looked interesting, Learn to Do Bavarian Crochet (Annie’s Attic: Crochet). I may have to make this baby blanket, Bavarian Lullaby, that is featured in the book:

And, I picked up some yarn for a couple of Christmas projects.

3 skeins of Michaels Loops & threads Impeccable yarn, in Luxury Ombre, of which 1/3 is already becoming a scarf. Please ignore the red, that is not part of the scarf put actually the red of the cherry table showing through the spaces in the scarf!

And 3 skeins of Michaels Loops & Threads Impeccable yarn, in Fresh Lilac Ombre, which will soon look very similar to the previous picture! I have two nieces that have spent their whole lives in the south and are now about to be subjected to their first northern winter. I think warm scarves will be welcome Christmas gifts!

As you can see, I have begun new crochet projects before finishing my final WIP (Work in Progress) that I mentioned in my October 2nd post Crochet Shrug.

I did complete almost one row of that afghan before setting it aside. I am beginning to think that I should turn that into a small lapghan instead of a full-sized afghan, finish it off just about where it is now, and then find another pattern that I like better to make for David’s graduation gift. I will need to make a college graduation afghan for him in another year and a half and it would be really nice if he received his high school graduation afghan before that, don’t you think?
